The Story of Plastic Bottles
The convenience of plastic bottled water has gone way beyond fulfilling the simple need of keeping hydrated. In excess of 30 billion bottles a year are purchased and yet less than 20% of these bottles are being recycled. Have you ever wondered where the remaining 80% of plastic bottles end up? Most bottles end up in landfill sites and another huge proportion end up swimming in a huge plastic soup in the sea.
The problem is growing. Plastic bottles can take as long as 700 years to degrade and even then leave behind tiny plastic pills which can end up in the food chain. The only way we are ever going to reduce this continuing problem is by making the decision as responsible individuals to stop buying plastic water bottles and bottled water.
